Addendum to the "we have enough" list

"If two people think the same way on a team, one of them is redundant." - Mark Roser

I am happy to announce that we have enough differences amongst us in the way we think.

That is definitely one problem Nebual7 does not have at this moment.

The challenge is to take advantage of our differences and pull the wagon in the same direction.

Look forward to the list growing in the future.

NEWS FLASH

Nebula7 has the top votes in the JustMeans Contest.

A BIG THANK YOU
to all good people out there who have been incredibly generous with their support.

Taking account of the assets

"We believe we can fly".

Well we certainly can as long as we have the right tools to do so. Thankfully Tegy found “Getting Real” by 37signals.

I read it in one sitting and highly recommend it to anybody who is embarking on a project with limited resources. Many of the points are equally relevant for larger meaty projects though may be slightly difficult to implement in a corporate setting.

We all know that plenty of money, time and people is no guarantee for success and yet it is so easy to lose time and energy counting the things we do not have. We realised that we are sometimes suffering from what the author terms as “not enough” blues.

So we decided to take an account of things that we do have.

We have “more than enough” backing of our friends who have supported us immensely with their comments, votes, creative contributions and, at times, with their constructive criticisms.

We have the freedom to be widly creative with our resources - it is only up to us to ensure that we always have enough imagination.

And most importantly, we have the freedom to choose the scope of our project, a luxury that very few projects can afford. Choosing those “desert island discs” is never an easy task but then only we can have enough gumption to take those tough decisions.

However there is no shying from the fact that there is a lot we do not have and we hope to share with you as to how Nebula7 plans to manage to do without them.

We would love to hear if you have been able to use your lack of resources to your advantage.

We believe we have enough aptitude to listen and learn.

Did he have a passion?

Building the prototype for Nebula7 is currently our top priority. We are eager to build something that we can use, get others to use and make things happen. But getting is off the ground is proving to be quite a challenge.

I am starting to appreciate the passion and commitment of the open source communities. I remember hearing that Greek’s don’t write obituaries for a dead man but they only ask one question “Did he have a passion?" What a wise tradition because if it were not for passion the world would be a different place.

The next few months will test the strength our passion for social change.

Tegy has an idea

I met Tegy at Skoll forum 2008.

Tegy is a believer of the power of the people, loves to meet them and bring them together to make things happen.

But he knows that travelling can be money, time and carbon consuming.

So what if- he could provide a platform which would bring all these bright eyed people together and use their talent for social innovation?

We discussed this idea at great length on facebook on one summer evening.

I decided to give it a go and started my journey to Nebula7.
